Malibu Remodel
Project: A comprehensive remodel and small addition to a 1960’s tract house on an ocean view property in Sunset Mesa, Malibu.
Client Requirements: Maximize panoramic ocean views with high ceilings, bright, open and large spaces for entertaining, and update in a contemporary style.
Challenge: Raise roofs for higher ceilings within height restriction imposed by the Homeowner Association guidelines to protect neighbor’s views.
Design Solution: A gabled flat roof with minimum slope and gutters running the entire length of the building on both sides to maximize the ceiling height and avoid the long term leakage pitfalls of standard flat roofs with parapets.
Property: 2,752 sq. ft. (327 sq. ft. addition), 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 2 car garage
